What's in your quote — and what isn't

The price you see above is the complete cost to move your vehicle between the two terminals you picked: rail transport, carrier liability insurance, terminal handling at both ends, and vehicle inspection at drop-off and pickup. Tax is shown as a separate line on your receipt but is not added on top of the quoted figure as a surprise — it's visible before you confirm. There is no fuel surcharge bolted on later, no broker commission, no documentation fee, and no cancellation penalty if you cancel before your confirmed drop-off date.

Pricing is based on vehicle size (sedans are the standard rate; SUVs, pickup trucks, crossovers, and minivans are classified one tier up), the corridor you're shipping on, and the current monthly fuel adjustment. That fuel adjustment moves with diesel price indices the same way airline ticket prices do — when fuel drops, so do rates. Once you book, the price is locked: nothing changes between confirmation and drop-off.

Everything else — pickup at your home, drop-off at your home, expedited departure windows, upgraded insurance above Canadian Red Book value for high-value vehicles — is optional and priced transparently in the wizard if you add it. You can also stick with terminal-to-terminal, which is the cheapest option and what most of our customers book.

Common Questions

How long does shipping take?
Total time from drop-off to ready-for-pickup for car shipping by train across Canada is typically 2 to 4 weeks depending on the route. This includes waiting for the next scheduled train departure (up to 10 days), rail transit by train (3–14 days depending on distance), and 2–3 days for destination processing.
What’s included in the price?
Everything — rail transport, insurance, terminal handling, vehicle inspection, and real-time tracking. Tax is shown separately in your quote. No hidden fees, no fuel surcharge add-ons, no surprise costs.
Can I track my vehicle?
Yes. Every car shipping by train booking includes real-time tracking through your personal client portal. You also receive automated email and SMS updates at every milestone — vehicle received, loaded onto the train, in transit, arrived, and ready for pickup.
Is my car insured during shipping?
Yes. Insurance is included with every shipment at no extra cost. Coverage is in effect from the moment your vehicle is received at the origin terminal until it’s handed over to you at the destination.
Can I put personal belongings in my car?
No. The vehicle must be empty of all personal items — no electronics, clothing, luggage, or valuables. Personal belongings are not insured and may result in refused loading at the terminal.
What vehicles do you accept?
We ship sedans, SUVs, crossovers, minivans, and pickup trucks up to F-350 class. Vehicles must be fully operational, under 25 years old, and have at least 6 inches of ground clearance. We do not ship motorcycles, commercial vehicles, or non-running cars.
How much fuel should be in the tank?
Fuel must be at least a quarter tank at drop-off — no upper limit, you can arrive with a full tank if you want. We just need enough fuel to drive the vehicle onto and off of the rail car at each terminal. For electric vehicles, the battery should be charged to approximately 85% — not full, not near empty.
What do I need to bring to drop-off?
Bring these four things to your terminal drop-off:
  • Your vehicle with at least a quarter tank of fuel (gas/diesel/hybrid only — no upper limit, fill it up if you want)
  • One set of keys — keep any spares with you
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Your job number from your booking confirmation

If you're shipping an EV, the battery should be charged to approximately 85% — not full, not near empty. And before you arrive: clear all personal items from the vehicle, and remove any external accessories like roof racks or bike racks.

How does payment work?
Full payment is required to confirm your booking. Payment is processed securely online through your client portal. We accept credit and debit cards. The quote you see already includes all fees — tax is shown separately.
What’s the difference between terminal and door-to-door?
Terminal-to-terminal is our most affordable option — you drop off and pick up at our rail terminals. Door-to-door means we arrange a local carrier to pick up from your home and deliver to your destination address. You can also mix and match — home pickup with terminal delivery, or vice versa.
